I have made something simular for SP2013 but as one commented, how do you make it show information about another user? Altough I log on as a regular domain user. The webpart just shows information about my domain\farm account. :(
Any ideas as to what must be done to accomplish this?

You would have to adjust the Item Limit from the Web Part properties if you need to show more items.

This is exactly what I want but my site needs to have 4 thumbnail images. I’m really new to sharepoint and struggling on my own. I appreciate I need to add more instances of “safeimageurl”, so “safeimageurl2″?? but what else?

We managed to resolve the issue. there is a patch for SharePoint witch fix the bug:
